Lakers Improve Win Streak to Four With a Win at Marshalltown

Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer visited Marshalltown on Saturday, winning 2-1. The scoring started in the 35th minute when Keiji Sugiura found Garbhan Feeney on the left flank for a brilliant goal. Garbhan took on his defender and cut inside to place the bending ball in the far upper 90 of the goal.

The Lakers continued to put Marshalltown under pressure in the second half, with Gabriel Miranda winning the ball off of a Tigers defender and putting it past the Marshalltown keeper, only for the ball to hit the post of the empty goal. Minutes later, Miranda was taken down in the box, awarding The Lakers the penalty. Emilio Cazares stepped up to the spot, hitting the ball low and hard into the corner to give Iowa Lakes the 2-0 lead. Marshalltown were awarded a freekick with 45 seconds left on the clock, which they capitalized on, snipping the clean sheet away from The Lakers.

Iowa Lakes will host WIT next, on Wednesday, October 18th, at home, which will be the final regular season conference game of the season. The Lakers have now won four consecutive games and improve to 10-2-2 on the season and 5-1-1 in conference play.
