Iowa Lakes Move Onto Conference Semis After Eliminating Dakota County 4-0

Iowa Lakes hosted Dakota County on Sunday for their quarter-final match-up in the ICCAC playoffs, winning 4-0. The scoring started in the 13th minute when Keishon Clarke put the header away from a corner kick delivered by Keiji Sugiura. The Lakers continued to create chances throughout the first half but failed to convert again throughout the tightly packed Dakota County defense.

The Lakers came out the second half ready to put the game to bed. Emilio Cazares put the ball away in the back of the net from the pass of Philmour Virgo in the 52nd minute. Less than a minute later, Philmour Virgo got on the scoresheet himself, burying the parried away ball from the Dakota County keeper on a hard and clean struck volley to put The Lakers up 3-0. Francis Motsi then scored a wonderfully placed curling ball into the far upper 90 of the goal from outside the box after picking the ball up off of Darian Bradshaw in the 75th minute to give Iowa Lakes the 4-0 win.

Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer is now 12-2-2 on the season and head into the semi-final round of ICCAC playoffs on Wednesday, hosting Southeastern at 3pm CST in Spencer. The forecast shows some rough weather ahead, and The LAkers hope everything goes to schedule; however, if the weather doesn't comply, the game might get pushed back a day.
