Iowa Lakes hosted Marshalltown on Wednesday for the semifinal round of ICCAC playoffs, winning 1-0. The first half saw a tightly contested battle, with The Lakers creating several quality chances, but went into half-time nil-nil.
The Lakers came out in the second half firing on all cylinders though. A great bit of combination play from the kick-off found Keishon Clarke on the right flank with space to advantage of, driving the ball low and hard across the 6-yard box for Gabriel Miranda to get on the end of to give Iowa Lakes the 1-0 lead. Marshalltown tried everything in their power to equalize the score, but a well-composed and hardworking Lakers side were able to ward off any threat and see out the 1-0 victory.
Iowa Lakes now sits at 13-2-2 on the season and are ranked #2 in the nation. The Lakers will visit Northeast on Sunday, October 29th, for the ICCAC Championship game with a planned kick-off time of 3pm CST.
