Perez, Hirano, and Sugiura Named 2023 First Team All-American

(Anaheim, CA)—United Soccer Coaches announced their 2023 All-American list, naming three Iowa Lakes student-athletes to the First Team. 

Eugenio Perez—The sophomore started all 22 games of the season at center back. Eugenio was instrumental in Iowa Lakes' winning the National Title, scoring two goals during the tournament. 

Yuta Hirano—The freshman goalkeeper started every game of the season, making 80 saves along the way. Hirano is built for the big moments, only allowing one goal into his net during the National Championship tournament. His outstanding technical ability allowed Iowa Lakes to control matches by playing out of the back and create deadly counterattacks with his distribution. 

Keiji Sugiura—The freshman midfielder started in 21 out of 22 matches during the season, contributing 2 goals and 13 assists, giving him 17 points on the season. Sugiura was a vital piece of the Lakers' midfield, setting the tempo and controlling matches with his great vision, high soccer IQ, and technical ability.
