(ANAHEIM, CA)—United Soccer Coaches announced 2023 award honorees this week, naming Iowa Lakes sophomore defender Eugenio Perez as the NJCAA Men's Soccer Player of the Year. Perez started all 22 games for The Lakers at the center-back position, where his defending, distribution, and leadership skills turned heads all over the country. Eugenio scored two crucial goals for Iowa Lakes at the National Championship Tournament, contributing to the Lakers' first-ever National Title.
