On November 12 & 13th the Iowa Lakes swim team had the opportunity to travel down to Morningside University to compete in the Morningside invitational. The competition hosted 6 different schools, the Lakers being one of two NJCAA teams to compete against the strong group of NAIA teams.

The Men's side had an impressive showing with numerous new NJCAA National cuts and multiple top finishes. These top finishes include two 3rd place finishes for freshman Andres Santana in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke event. Eduardo Martiniano touched in a 3rd place finish in the 200 IM and nabbed a 2nd place finish in the 100 IM, just narrowly missing Morning Side University's pool record in the event by 0.01 seconds.

On the Women's side, sophomore Allison Graff raced her way to a 9th place finish in the women's 200 backstroke, followed up by freshman Moana Wind touching 3rd in the 400 IM. Wind later upstaged her 400 IM performance by grabbing the Laker's only 1st place finish of the meet in the 100 breaststroke, breaking one of Morningside University's oldest pool records by over a full second in the process.

The Lakers certainly made a splash at Morningside University in their second travel meet of the season, they certainly look forward to returning the Sioux City to race again!
