Iowa Lakes Community College Head Coach, Katie Larson, announced the signing of Brooklyn Mickelson to the 2018-2019 recruiting class. Brooklyn is the daughter of Todd and Tami Mickelson and played for the St. James High School Saints from St. James, Minnesota.

"Brooklyn is such a great kid," commented Larson. "She has the type of personality that every person wants to be around. She always has a smile on her face and truly strives to be the best in everything that she does. She has had a ton of success on and off the field at St. James, which shows a lot about her character, work ethic, and determination."

A three-year letter winner for the Saints, Mickelson has excelled on the field. Offensively, she posted a .406 batting average and a .513 on-base percentage. She had 26 hits, including 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 homeruns. In the circle, she has allowed 108 hits, while striking out 92, and walking 46. For her efforts, Mickelson was awarded Most Valuable Player and highest batting average her junior season and was named to the All-Conference team both her sophomore and junior seasons. Mickelson looks to improve those stats and awards in her final season of high school ball this spring.

Mickelson also shines off the softball diamond. She is a two-year letter winner for volleyball, where she was named Most Valuable Player and All-Conference her senior year. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Student Leadership. She is the senior class officer and has been on the "A" Honor Roll since her freshman year of high school. Mickelson received the spotlight on scholarship award for volleyball and softball her sophomore year and was the student of the trimester her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. She was also on the All-State Academic team during the volleyball season her senior year.

Larson also had this to say about Brooklyn, "Brooklyn's presence in the circle is undeniable. She is a strong, athletic kid that wants to learn. She has so many tools already as a pitcher that it is going to be fun to see how she develops the next two years. She has the potential to do some amazing things at Iowa Lakes and I believe she has the work ethic to accomplish this. I am beyond thrilled to watch Brooklyn grow the next two years in the blue and gold uniform!"
