Iowa Lakes Community College Announces Spring Softball Camps

IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE ANNOUNCES SPRING SOFTBALL CAMP

 

(Estherville, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Community College announced today that the Iowa Lakes Softball team will be hosting a youth camp on Saturday, February 9th and an advanced camp on Sunday, February 10th. Each camp will be held in the Christensen Building, which is located on the corner of 18th St. and 7th Ave, across the street from the Estherville Campus.

The youth camp is open to grades K-6. Grades K-3 will run from 1:00-3:00 pm and grades 4-6 will run from 3:30-5:30 pm. The cost will be $25 and each kid will receive an Iowa Lakes Softball bracelet and game poster. This camp will focus on throwing, hitting, fielding, as well as base running.

The advanced camp is open to grades 7-12 and is split up into three sessions, the cost is $45 for one session, $80 for two sessions, and $75 for all three sessions. Session 1 runs from 1:00-3:00 pm and will focus on defensive skills like throwing techniques/drills as well as fielding techniques/drills. Session 2 will run from 3:30-5:30 pm and will focus on offensive skills like hitting techniques/drills, base running, and agilities. Sessions 3 runs from 6:00-7:00 pm and will focus on pitching/catching drills and techniques.

The Iowa Lakes camps provide young players with the opportunity to be exposed to college level training. This year's camp is hosted by the Iowa Lakes Softball players and coaches with the goal of expanding the knowledge of softball to younger generations of athletes.

Participants will have the opportunity to focus on the proper mechanics of the game including sessions on throwing, hitting, fielding, and base running.
