Iowa Lakes Softball Signs Gabby West
Iowa Lakes Community College Head Coach, Katie Larson, announced the signing of Gabby West to the 2019-2020 recruiting class. Gabby is the daughter of Ken and Andrea West and plays for the Perry High School Jayettes.
"We are really excited to welcome Gabby and her family to the Iowa Lakes Softball family next year," commented Coach Larson. "We are looking for her to step in and make an immediate impact for us behind the plate."
A catcher from Perry, Iowa, Gabby had a .684 batting average last year. She compiled 61 hits, including 5 doubles and 2 homeruns. She batted in 41 of her teammates, while having an impressive .830 on-base percentage. For her efforts on the field, Gabby is a four-year letter winner and an Academic All-Conference recipient.
Gabby is a four sport athlete and has excelled in each one. She is a three-year letter winner in volleyball and an Academic All-Conference recipient, three-year letter winner in basketball and an Academic All-Conference recipient, and a one-year letter winner in track and an Academic-All Conference recipient. In addition, Gabby is a three-year academic letter winner at Perry High School.
Larson had this to say about Gabby, "We are very excited that Gabby has chosen to be a Laker. On the field, she has the athletic abilities and desire to be great. She is like a sponge, soaking up information and applying it to her game. Off the field, she will be a tremendous role-model to the youth in this community as well as her own. She loves the sport of softball and it is very evident when you talk with her or watch her play. We cannot wait to watch her grow the next two years in a Laker uniform!"
