Eleven Athletes Named to the ICCAC Academic All-Region Team

Eleven Iowa Lakes Community College softball student-athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Softball Academic All-Region teams.

To be eligible for the ICCAC Academic All-Region First Team, a student-athlete must have a GPA between 4.0 and 3.5 during the spring season. To be eligible for the ICCAC Academic All-Region Second Team, a student-athlete must have a term GPA between 3.49 and 3.0 during the spring season.

The eight athletes that received first team honors were: Taylor Allen, sophomore from Neepawa, Manitoba, Cananda, Taylor Beane, freshman from Dexter, Iowa, Laurie Custard, sophomore from Des Moines, Iowa, Gabriella Heckard, sophomore from Estherville, Iowa, Sydney Jensen, freshman from Everly, Iowa, Isabelle Karr, freshman from Keller, Texas, Brooklyn Mickelson, sophomore from St. James, Minnesota, and Jerica Walters, sophomore from Sioux City, Iowa.

The three athletes that received second team honors were:  Madisyn Arechederra, freshman from Tucson, Arizona, Autumn Phelps, freshman from Short, Oklahoma, and Kacie Salazar, sophomore from Bakersfield, California.

"I am very proud of what these young ladies have accomplished. We talk a lot about how academics are just as important as athletics within our program and it is awesome to see that their hard work in the classroom has paid off." Commented Coach Larson.
