Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, announced the signing of Mackenna Otte to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Mackenna is the daughter of Derek and Amy Otte and attends Randolph High School in Randolph, Minnesota.

"We would like to welcome Mackenna and her family to the Iowa Lakes Softball family." Said Coach Larson. "Mackenna comes from a program that knows how to win and they compete every pitch of every game. That kind of tenacity and competitiveness is something that we are excited for her to bring with her."

As a shortstop for the Rockets, Otte has helped lead her team to back to back Minnesota State Tournament appearances, including a third place finish during the 2019 season. Last season, she had a batting average of .340, with 33 hits, including three doubles, three triples, and one homerun. During her career, Otte has been named to the Red Wing Republican Eagle All-Area Team (2017), All-Conference Team (2017-2019), All-Section Team (2019), All State Team Honorable Mention (2019), Academic All- Conference Team (2017-2019), and State Tournament All-Tournament Team (2018). Additionally, she was voted Most Improved Player (2017) and Golden Glove (2019).

Otte had this to say, "I chose Iowa Lakes because I felt very at home when I visited. The small community and family setting made me feel as if I were back in Randolph. I felt so welcomed by everyone that I met and can't wait to work with Coach Larson and the team."

A two year-letter winner in basketball, Otte has also seen success on the court. She was captain of the team last season and has been awarded Academic All-Conference two consecutive years (2017-2018). Otte has also remained on the A Honor Roll from 2016 to present.

Coach Larson also had this to say, "Mackenna is going to do great things for this program both on and off the field. She is a standout person in every aspect of her life. Mackenna has a big heart and understands that you also need to win off the field. She is going to be a tremendous role-model for her peers and the youth in the community. We cannot wait to see what Mackenna can do in the blue and gold next year."
