Olivia Stevens to Play at Iowa Lakes

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, has announced Olivia Stevens to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Olivia is the daughter of Scott and Cathy Stevens and attends St. Peter High School in St. Peter, Minnesota.

"We are excited that Oliva chose to be a Laker next year." Commented Coach Larson. "Olivia and her family are going to be a joy to have around the program and we cannot wait to see everything that Olivia can bring to Iowa Lakes."

A shortstop and pitcher, Stevens has found great success on the field. In her junior season, she batted .490 and had an impressive .509 on-base percentage. She recorded 49 hits, including eight doubles, five triples, and two homeruns. In the circle, Stevens was a perfect 7-0 with a .74 ERA. She allowed just 29 hits, while striking out 52 and walking 12. For her efforts, Stevens was awarded KEYC Student Athlete of the Week (2019), All-State Class AA Honorable Mention (2019), All-Conference (2019), and MFCA All-Section (2019). During the 2018 season, Stevens helped lead her team to a second-place finish at the Minnesota State High School Tournament, where she was selected for the AA All-Tournament team.

"Iowa Lakes caught my eye because of the town and community. When I met with Katie, she made me feel like I was already a part of the team and community. I liked the feel of the atmosphere of the college. They also have exactly what I am looking for with my education as well." Said Stevens.

Off the field, Stevens has been very involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA). She is the current FFA president and was awarded an outstanding FFA member. She also placed fourth at state horse judging. In the classroom, Stevens has consistently found herself on the honor roll.

Coach Larson had this to say, "Olivia is going to be a great addition to our middle infield. Her hands and range are going to make her one of the best shortstops around. Offensively, she is going to be a very consistent hitter that also has the power to hit it over the fence. We are very excited to see how she can positively impact our team in the blue and gold next year."
