Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, has announced Lexi Chase to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Lexi is the daughter of Jerry and Laura Chase and attends Chatfield High School in Chatfield, Minnesota.
"We are very excited to welcome Lexi Chase to the Laker Softball program. She is a high-quality person and student-athlete. Her love for the game shines through her every time she steps on the mound. She is exactly what we are seeking in our incoming class," commented Coach Larson.
A pitcher, Chase is a five-year letter winner for the Gophers. She is a four time All-Conference Team selection, four time All-Section Team selection, one time All-State Honorable Mention selection, one time All-State 2nd Team selection, and two time All-State 1st Team selection. In her career, she has a 50-13 record with a 1.45 ERA. She has struck out 605 batters, while allowing just 243 hits. At the plate, she has an impressive .541 batting average. She has racked up 46 hits, including ten doubles, one triple, and two homeruns. Chase is also a member of the Minnesota State Honors Society since 2018.
Lexi is excited to become a Laker and had this to say, "As soon as I walked on to the Iowa Lakes campus, I could feel that everyone was a big family. Coming from a small town this sense of family is very important to me. I loved how everyone knew everyone and you could tell that people truly care about you. Iowa Lakes will allow me to continue my softball career and perhaps go on to bigger things after these two great years coming up. I am very excited to be a Laker starting the fall of 2020!"
Coach Larson is excited about Chase joining the team in the circle next year. "Lexi is an elite pitcher. Not only can she throw each of her pitches well, she understands how to effectively use each one. She does not just pitch, she thinks. Lexi is also one of the most competitive people that I have met. She wants to win at every aspect of life, which is a passion and fire that we are excited to have on this team next year. I cannot wait to coach Lexi and see how much she accomplishes here and in life!"
