Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, has announced the signing of Sydney Uekert to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Uekert is the daughter of Penny Uekert. She is from Kronenwetter, Wisconsin and attends D.C. Everest High School.

"We are excited to welcome Sydney and her family to the Iowa Lakes Family." Commented Coach Larson. "Sydney is a very well-rounded student-athlete that will definitely be leaving her mark on this program."

As a shortstop, Uekert has found great success on the softball diamond. As a junior, she batted .403 with 31 hits, including four doubles and three homeruns. She was also awarded offensive MVP last year on her team.

When asked why she chose Iowa Lakes, Uekert had this to say, "I chose Iowa Lakes because I love the small family type environment. After meeting with Coach Katie, I knew Iowa Lakes was also a great place to continue my softball career. I am looking forward to continuing not only my education but my softball career at Iowa Lakes."

Coach Larson also had this to say, "We love the fact that Sydney decided to be a Laker. She is someone that will come out everyday with a great attitude and the willingness to learn. The passion that she has to play softball radiates from her every time she steps on the field. We are excited for the opportunity to work with her the next two years."
