Kaitlin Roundy to Play Softball at Iowa Lakes

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, has announced Kaitlin Roundy to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Kaitlin is the daughter of Cole and Kristin Roundy. She is from Washington, Utah and attends Pine View High School.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Kaitlin to the Iowa Lakes Softball family," commented Coach Larson. "Kaitlin is a high-quality student-athlete and person. She is a determined young lady that gives 110% to the things that she believes in. She is going to be a tremendous role-model to the student-athletes in the area that strive for greatness."

An infielder/catcher, Roundy is a four-year starter and letter winner for the Panthers. She is a two-time 1st Team All-Region selection and one-time All-Region Honorable Mention selection. Roundy was also a two-time PVHS team captain, one-time PVHS Most Valuable Player, and one-time PVHS Offensive Player of the Year. In her junior season, Roundy had a .420 batting average. She racked up 21 hits, including six doubles and one homerun. Defensively, Roundy put up a .920 fielding percentage.

Roundy had this to say about Iowa Lakes, "What is there not to love about Iowa Lakes? From the beginning, everyone seemed like family and it felt like home. The administration was so accepting and my visit was amazing. It's always been my dream to play college softball and I'm excited to keep chasing it in Estherville, Iowa, even though I'll be 1300 miles from home. I know Coach Katie and everyone at Iowa Lakes will make sure I feel right at home. I can't wait to be a Laker!"

Off the field, Roundy is just as much of a stud as on. She is a one-time letter winner in volleyball, where she was also voted Defensive Player of the Year. In the classroom, Roundy holds a 3.96 GPA and is in the top 10% of her class. She is a four-year National Honor Society Member. She received the Academic All-Region Award and was a 4A Academic State Champion in Volleyball.

Coach Larson also had this to say about Kaitlin, "Kaitlin was almost like the final piece to the puzzle. She can play the left side of the infield just as easily as she can catch, and she can do them all well. She has a very strong arm and quick transfer which will bode well for her at both positions. Additionally, the number one job of a catcher is to make their pitcher look good and that is exactly what Kaitlin does! We are excited at the opportunity to coach Kaitlin and cannot wait to see her in the blue and gold uniform next year!"
