Lakers Finish in 8th place in Both 16 Yard Singles and Doubles at ACUI/SCTP Nationals

(Emmetsburg, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Sports Shooting Team participated in the 2024 Nationals in San Antonio, Texas on March 23, 2024. The team shot 472x500 to tie for 8th place in division 4 with SE Community College of Nebraska and the University of Arkansas Cossatot. The 16 yard singles squad was comprised of Brady Abkes, 98; Wyatt Schwenker,96; Chase Young, 93; Taylor Shiflett, 93; and Mackenzie Schnetzer, 92. The doubles squad comprised of Wyatt Schwenker, 82; Cameron Fick, 82;, Mackenzie Schnetzer, 81; Chase Young, 79; and Brady Abkes, 78.  They shot 402x500 to take 8th place in division 4.

In the 16 yard event there were 897 men and 237 ladies from 105 colleges competing. In the doubles event there 645 men and 237 ladies from 74 colleges. The total number of shooters was very close to record number with a total of 108 colleges competing. There were a total 91 four year college in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 and 17 community colleges/trade schools in division 4.

Coach Kalsow said, "I'm proud of the way we shot at Nationals. It was hazy and a light rain fell during the 16 yard event, but we shot the best score an Iowa Lakes Team has ever shot at Nationals.
