The Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball team defeats North Platte 59-51. Iowa Lakes was up 30-19 at half. Iowa Lakes came out strong to start the 3rd quarter. At the end of the 3rd quarter Iowa Lakes was up 48-24. North Platte had a strong 4th quarter outscoring the Lakers 27-11. Freshmen post player Mia Wassink led Iowa Lakes with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Lauryn Smith scored 9 points and dished out 7 assists and Tristyn Dunivant scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
"I am proud of the girls for toughing out the win. This was a great learning opportunity for our team; understanding the importance of playing every possession," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.
The Lakers are 3-0 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers return to action tomorrow, Saturday, November 12 when they play Northeast Community College. The Lakers next home game will be Tuesday, November 15 vs Northwestern JV.
