The Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball program ended their pre-season workouts on Friday September 29th and began official practice Sunday October 1st. The Lakers begin their 2017-18 season on Sunday October 8th at a JUCO Jamboree in Cedar Falls, IA. The Lakers will compete against MCC-Penn Valley at noon, Rochester Community & Technical College at 2:00 p.m. and Iowa Western Community College at 4:00 p.m.
"As much as we all loved conditioning over the last month, I think everyone's ready to compete and see all of our hard work pay off. Although training and conditioning over the past few weeks was hard, we were able to have fun with it and really come together as a team. We had some rough days but everyone was really good about pushing and supporting one another. We have an extremely hard working team with such great energy. I'm excited to see how we carry it over onto the court in our upcoming scrimmages and games. I feel we're going to have a great season," said freshman Kaitlyn Reynolds.
Sophomore Mia Wassink had this to say about this upcoming weekend, "We've really worked hard all through pre-season, where we've been able to gel as a team. This has really helped us all figure out what each of us can bring to the table individually. We're all excited to get to play on Sunday and finally get our season underway."
"The team has worked extremely hard this fall and have been a great group. We have really enjoyed working with the girls. We are excited to play on Sunday and get things rolling. Will be fun to see how we match up and continue to improve every day," said Coach Martin.
The Lakers will continue their next action of play on Saturday October 21st in Coon Rapids, MN at Anoka-Ramsey Community College starting at Noon. The Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball program will host their first home game of the season on Monday November 6th against Dordt JV at 5:30 p.m.
