The Lakers topped Dordt JV tonight to win their first game of the season 68-59.
The Lakers were led by Marissa Ruiz with 16 points, Mia Wassink added 15 points, Shai'anye Wesley added 14 points, and Anjanea Simms added 11 points.
"I thought our team played well tonight. We were challenged tonight and I thought the girls fought through some adversity and showed some toughness and resiliency. I am excited to see this team continue to improve everyday," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.
The Lakers are 1-0 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers return to action on Friday, November 10th and 11th when they travel to Norfolk, Ne. to play in the Northeast CC classic. They will play Northeast Community College at 6:00pm on Friday, November 10th and North Platte CC at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 11th. The Lakers return to home on Tuesday, November 14th when they take Northwestern JV at 5:30pm.
