Mia Wassink was named the ICCAC (Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) player of the week for the Lakers. Wassink scored 15 points and earned 9 rebounds against Dordt JV on Monday the 6th. The following weekend in the Northeast Community College Hawk Classic, Wassink had 9 points and 3 rebounds against Northeast and scored 37 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against North Platte. Wassink is averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest for the 2017-18 season.
"I am very proud of Mia and all that she has accomplished. She has really stepped up this season and has been a leader on the team. She has established herself on the block and is giving us a strong post presence. I'm excited to see her continue to improve as the season progresses," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin
The Lakers are currently 1-3 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers are back in action on Saturday, November 18th when they host Minnesota West Community & Technical College at 1pm.
