Lakers split on the weekend in Minneapolis

The Lakers split this weekend up in Minneapolis. Friday night the Lakers defeated St. Kate's JV 55-50. The Lakers were led in scoring by Samantha Hagedorn of Bancroft, IA with 21 points and Shanice Vaughn of Minneapolis, MN with 15 points.

The Lakers fell in a tough fought battle to St. Thomas 52-61. The Lakers were led in scoring by Breanna Wendland of Minneapolis, MN with 15 points and Shareece Smith of Fort Dodge, IA with 11 points.

 "Tough day for the Lakers as we fall to a very good St. Thomas team. We will look to learn from this weekend and continue to improve. We need to re-group and get back to work as we have a very big week of games with beginning conference play. This group is resilient and will learn from this weekend and continue to improve," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

The Lakers are 9-2 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers are back in action this Wednesday, December 5th as they open conference play in Winnebago, NE vs Little Priest Tribal College at 5:30pm. The Lakers return home on Saturday, December 2nd for their 2nd conference game vs Ellsworth at 1:00pm. They wrap up 1st semester play at home on Wednesday, December 12th vs Marshalltown at 5:30pm.
