Lakers Ready for Tournament Play

The Laker women finished another strong regular season with a win against Ellsworth Community College.  They finished with an overall record of 18-10 and 9-7 in conference play.  They finished in a three-way tie for third place with Southeastern Community College and Southwestern Community College in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).  The Lakers were propelled this season by Breanna Wendland, Shareece Smith, and Safiyer Coleman.

The Lakers had some outstanding accomplishments this season finishing in a three-way tie for third place in the ICCAC.  Wendland is ranked 3rd in field goal percentage this season, shooting 52.3 percent from the field.  She, also, brings in 14.5 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Lakers.  Smith helped alongside Wendland this season shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from the three point line (ranked 5th).  Smith is also ranked 1st in the conference shooting 82.9 percent from the free throw line.  Coleman has shot 38.4 percent from the field averaging 9.7 points per game and bringing down 5.3 rebounds per game. 

The Laker women will open up the first round of tournament play on the road in Creston, IA against Southwestern Community College, March 4th.  Tip off will be at 5:30pm.
