Lakers Go 1-1 at Johnson County Classic

The Iowa Lakes women's basketball team split this weekend at the Johnson County Classic to move to 2-2 on the season.

The Lakers took on Fort Scott Community College in the first game. The Lakers won a close game 78-77.

The Lakers were led by Jaeda Whitner with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Jasmine Jones added 12 points.

Fort Scott was led by Brekayla Davis with 16 points.

In the 2nd game of the classis the Lakers took on #2 Johnson County Community College. The Lakers would drop the game 53-105.

The Lakers were led by Rachel Puok with 14 points and Jasmine Jones added 11 points.

Johnson County was led by Kierra Prim with 21 points.

Head Coach Ashley Martin had this to say about the weekend, "I thought we took steps forward this weekend. We showed a lot of fight and toughness on Friday night. We continue to improve and are beginning to understand how hard you have to play every possession.

The Lakers are 2-2 on the season. The Lakers return to action this Tuesday when they host Northwestern JV at 5:30pm on Tuesday, November 16th. The Lakers will travel to Marshalltown, IA this weekend to compete in the Emerson Classic. They will play Central Community College Friday, November 19th at 1:00pm and North Platte Community College on Saturday, November 20th at 11:00am.
