Lakers Hang On For the Win Over Northwestern JV

Iowa Lakes sophomore Jaeda Whitner scored 39 points in an 82-79 victory over Northwestern JV.

The Lakers got off to a fast start scoring 24 in the 1st quarter but cooled off in the 2nd quarter to go into halftime with a 1 point lead, 38-37. The 2nd half went back and forth with the Lakers down 58-61. The Lakers finish with a big 4th quarter scoring 24 points including 11 points from Jeada Whitner.

Two more Lakers were also in double figures. Brielle Bartelt ended the night with four 3 pointers and 16 points. Ihari Oromo was 5-5 from the floor and 2-2 from the line to finish with 12 points.

Northwestern JV was led by Grace Van Namen with 22 points.

"Proud of the team's effort tonight. Very happy with how we closed out the game. When it was time to make plays we made the plays we needed and got crucial stops when we needed them. Looking forward to us continuing to improve on the defensive end," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

The Lakers are 3-2 on the season. The Lakers return to action this Friday when they travel to Marshalltown, IA  to compete in the Emerson Classic. They will play Central Community College Friday, November 19th at 1:00pm and North Platte Community College on Saturday, November 20th at 11:00am.
