Lakers Finish 1st Semester With Win Over DMACC

The Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball team (9-5 overall, 3-1 in ICCAC)  traveled to Sioux City, IA to play a conference game vs DMACC in the Tyson Events Center, as part of The Arena Invitational.

The Lakers got off to a slow start trailing DMACC 11-21 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Lakers would go into halftime down 22-29. The Lakers came out strong in the 3rd quarter to go up 51-46. The Lakers would then win 69-59.  

The Lakers were led by Jaeda Whitner with 25 points. Rachel Breck added 12 points. 

DMACC was led by Magan Christopherson with 24 points.

"So proud of our team and how they finished out the first semester strong. This is a great win to go into our holiday break on. The girls played their hearts out today and I am so proud of their effort. We have had a lot of adversity in the last couple weeks and I am so proud of how they stuck together and kept working and believing," commented Coach Martin

The Lakers are 9-5 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. The Lakers return to action on Wednesday, January 5th when they travel to Marshalltown, IA to take on Marshalltown Community College at 5:30pm.
