Iowa Lakes Takes 5th At Bent Tree Intercollegiate

The Iowa Lakes Lakers were back in action this weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa to compete in the Bent Tree Intercollegiate Invite hosted by Iowa Western Community College. The Lakers would end up in 5th place after two days of wet and cold conditions with a two day total of 725. Mount Mercy University would take home first place with a score of 634 and a great second round score of 303.

"This tournament was all about mental focus, determination, and grit. The ladies showed a lot of potential but still have room for improvement on the mental side of the game." said Coach Weber. "We need to find a way to get more focused right away so we don't stumble out of the gate and cost ourselves valuable shots early and so we don't have to work extra hard to build back lost momentum and energy. If we can do that, we will be in a great place."

The Lakers were led by sophomore Annika DuMoulin with a two day total of 171 (+27) which was good enough for a 12th place finish in the 38 player field. Closely behind Annika was freshman Abby Stender in a T-14th finish at 174 (+30).

"We have a lot of talent and potential, but it is going to take a lot of work to get us to reach that full potential. I know this team is capable of very good scores, but it will take the team coming out ready to go every round and not letting the little slip which costs us numerous shots a round. They did a great job in grinding as much as they could and they have a lot to take away from this tournament and we will be ready for the next event next week at Otter Creek."

Rounding out the scores for Iowa Lakes were Molly Diekmann at 192 (+48) and Erin Baum at 196 (+52). Alexia Kemper posted a first round 94 before having to WD from the second day due to illness.
