Lakers Cap Season At TPC Deere Run

The Iowa Lakes women's golf team finished up their fall campaign by competing at TPC Deere Run this weekend in a tournament hosted by William Penn University. The Lakers were the only two-year school at the tournament, and were able to come away with a sixth place finish in the eleven team field with two rounds of 402 and 384. Leading the way for the Lakers was sophomore Abby Stender with a T-15th finish with rounds of 95 and 89 in a field of 68 players.

"TPC Deere Run is a tremendous golf course, and a very difficult one. You put less than ideal conditions on top of that, and scores are going to be very high, which is exactly what happened this weekend," said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "The girls did a good job keeping their composure and energy up to fight through both rounds and came out with a respectable sixth place finish amongst all four-year schools."

Other scores for the Lakers were sophomores Erin Baum with rounds of 104 and 89 (26th) and Alexia Kemper with a 95 and 103 (t-33rd). Freshman Tiger Tsosie would post rounds of 108 and 103 (48th), and Kelly Winter posted rounds of 115 and 109 (56th).

"The girls overall had a solid fall season, but I don't think they were very satisfied with how they finished the season, but getting the opportunity to play TPC Deere Run is hopefully a memory that they will not soon forget. We will take some time to recover from some lingering injuries and get to work and be prepared for the spring season. This is a very talented group, and I am truly excited to see what they can bring to the table come March and April."
