The Laker wrestling team fell to #12 Iowa Western 22-27. In his Laker wrestling debut Kevin Saravia recorded a technical fall 16-0 at 125. David Hollingsworth III, who is currently ranked #8, also recorded a technical fall 18-3. The Lakers also got wins from Anthony Maia at 157 and Bunmi Smith, who is ranked #5 at 165. Even though his team lost Cody Alesch has an optimistic outlook for the reminder of the season when he said "The guys fought hard, that's always the expectation. When you fight hard on a consistent basis you put yourself in position to win a lot of wrestling matches." The Laker wrestlers take the mat again Saturday January 20th in Worthington MN, and then wrap up regular season action On Friday January 26th when they travel to NIACC to take on the #13 Trojans.
