At 141 lbs Anthony Fisher went 1-2. Both Anthony Maia at 157 lbs and Isaiah Cox at 184 lbs both fell a win shy of earning All-American Honors.

Given his team's success throughout the year Head Coach Cody Alesch had high hopes and expectations for his team leading into the national tournament "It was not the national tournament we were capable of having and that is disappointing.  We opened up going 7-0 in the first round so we came out strong however we seemed to forget we needed to follow that up with 2nd round hard fought matches. All 5 guys who did not earn All-American had guys either at this tournament we beat or earlier in the year we beat All American in their weight classes. The national tournament you have to be ready for war match after match and as a team we were not able to do that.  David Hollingsworth battled from the first whistle and got the results in his first national championships. To come in unranked and defeat 3 top ranked guys is very solid and he earned it. Bunmi Smith competed hard and just found a couple tough matches he could not overcome but he continued to battle to earn his first All-American honor. We return 5 of the 7 wrestlers next year and we are excited to bring them back and lead next season.  Our two sophomores were All-Americans as freshman battled hard, but both came up one match short of earning their second All-American honors. We are proud of both Isaiah and Kaz and all they've given to Iowa Lakes wrestling the past two seasons. We did not get the results we wanted but I am confident all the guys will move forward and take a lot from the tournament to improve both as men and wrestlers."
