Laker Wrestlers Defeat Minnesota West

In their third dual of the year, the Lakers of Iowa Lakes prevailed against the Blue Jays from MN West. Head coach Cody Alesch was happy with his team's 44-0 victory. "It was fun to see guy's who don't usually get an opportunity to wrestle in duals go out there and take advantage of the opportunity. No matter who we send out we expect them to fight hard and push the pace of the match and they did exactly that".

Christian Nichols got the Lakers off on the right foot. In his first start for the Lakers, the freshman form Emmetsburg won 8-6. After two forfeits from MN West at 133 lbs, and 141 lbs and a double forfeit at 149 lbs wrestling resumed at 157 lbs were Tracy Davis made quick work of his opponent recording a technical fall in the first period. David Hollingsworth III was not able to end the match early with a technical fall or pin, he was however in the driver's seat the entire match winning 15-2 at 165 lbs. At 184 lbs and 197 lbs and 285 lbs Steven Raines, Marcus Placide, and Mitchell Williamson all recorded pins in their matches giving the Lakers a 44-0 victory. The Lakers take the mat again on Saturday, December 1st in Storm Lake, IA where they will compete at the Buena Vista Open.
