Iowa Lakes has nine wrestlers competing at the national tournament on March 1st and 2nd in Council Bluffs at the Mid-American Center.
"Since regionals the nine qualifiers have had good preparation. I really like our mentality right now. This year it is nearly 3 weeks between regionals and nationals so there is a lot of time to have to keep balance in your mental preparation. I feel we have done a good job with that as a group," commented Head Wrestling Coach Cody Alesch.
Competition begins on Friday, March 1st at 9:30am. "We will we wake up Friday morning ready to lace up the shoes. Going to war is the only question that remains," stated Alesch.

"We have a group of guys that are entering their last NJCAA National Championship lead by returning All-American David Hollingsworth at 157 lbs. David has been a great leader all year with this group. David trains like he expects to compete and he has always had that mentality which is something for him that started at home. David will have to be at his best from the start as he opens the first round with a ranked opponent," said Alesch.
141- Anthony Fisher
"Anthony Fisher is looking to improve after going 1-2 at least year's nationals. Anthony has really had a good season and is poised to have a great tournament. He has grown a lot since last season and that maturity will really benefit him as he makes a run through the tournament this weekend," said Alesch.
125- Kevin Sravia
"Kevin Saravia is also looking for to improve on his 1-2 showing last year. Kevin had a great start to the season. Kevin really has prepared well sense regionals and is capable of having a big national tournament. If Kevin brings his best there is no one he is not capable of beating at the 125 lbs. weight class." Said Alesch.
149-Tracy Davis 184-Marcus Placide HWT-Andre Bissainthe
"Tracy Davis, Marcus Placide and Andre Bissainthe are all entering their first national tournament but will be moving on from here so they have a lot to fight for. Those three want to go on and wrestle at 4-year schools and have a lot to prove," said Alesch.
165-Tryrone Jones and 174-Steven Raines
"Our two freshman Tyrone Jones and Steven Raines are really doing a good job at preparing and following the leadership of the older guys. They are getting better every day. This group is capable of having a special weekend," said Alesch.
