Freshman Matt Jordan of the Iowa Lakes Wrestling Team has been named 2nd Team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

During the season, Jordan won the Auggie Open, placed second at the RCTC Open, placed third at the Dave Edmunds Open, placed fourth at the Grandview Open, and placed third at the regional meet.

Jordan placed second at the NJCAA National Tournament despite being unranked at the time. The national champion who defeated Jordan had only one loss on the season, when Jordan had beaten him earlier in the year.

"Matt really deserved all that he earned this year.  He bought into the coaching staff from day 1 and was able to wrestle on the big stage at the national tournament.  Like any season it produced many adversities to our team and I can say that Matt was able to overcome all of those.  Matt always came out stronger through challenging times by putting his head down and going back to work to get better.  The experience of this season will be able to make him a great leader for the next season and we look forward to that as a coaching staff," stated Coach Alesch.
