Marshall Carpenter joined the Iowa Lakes coaching staff on August 15th, 2022 as a Graduate Assistant. 

Carpenter comes to us from Bozeman, Montana where he coached several youth and high school wrestling programs. He was an Assistant Coach for the Belgrade High School Panthers from 2017 until 2022. In addition, Carpenter ran the Belgrade middle school team as a feeder program for Belgrade High while also assisting with the Legends of Gold Montana club wrestling team.

During Carpenter’s five years with the Panthers, the team grew from a small class A team with a single state placer into a AA team with two undefeated state champions, with five placers. Carpenter also helped establish the women's program in Belgrade which boast’s multiple state placers and a USAW All-American during its introductory year.

Prior to coaching Belgrade, Carpenter worked as the Head Wrestling Coach for Lone Peak High School in Big Sky, Montana. Carpenter ran the program during its first official year, qualifying one wrestler for the school’s first ever state wrestling tournament appearance.

Carpenter wrestled for the University of Michigan 2010-2011. In high school he won two Montana AA State Championships representing Bozeman High School with 149 wins and 11 losses. Carpenter was a high school All-American as well as four-time academic All-American.
