Lakers Seal Victory at NIACC

The Iowa Lakes Women's soccer team put on an excellent winning display in their game at NIACC on Tuesday with a dominating 5-1 victory. The Lakers maintained possession for periods of the game while creating many scoring opportunities. The first goal came at the 16th minute, with Deborah Noguiera sliding the ball through to Bruna Kruschewski for a composed strike into the goal. NIACC came out strong in the second half and forced some spectacular saves from Iowa Lakes goalkeeper Valentina Jimenez.

The second goal for the Lakers came 18 minutes into the second half, with Vanessa Hernandez accelerating into the box and finishing the ball into the bottom corner of the net. After the second goal, NIACC scored, but it didn't seem to rattle the Lakers as they responded immediately with Amy Boyle finding the net for her first goal of the season. Shortly after, the lakers began to find stride with a driving run from Noelle Kigan down the sidelines to assist Melissa Fajardo for her first goal of the season.

With four minutes remaining, Amy Boyle sealed her second game goal with an excellent run that resulted in her dribbling around the NIACC goalie for an easy finish into the net. The Lakers came away with a win to remember and prepare for their next challenge this Saturday at home versus Scott Community College at 1 pm MST.
