Lakers Storm Over Iowa Central

Lakers Storm Over Iowa Central

The Iowa Lakes women's soccer team won their third game with a well-deserved 3-0 victory away to Iowa Central. The lady Lakers started the game off in the 12th minute with an excellent finish from their striker, Vanessa Hernandez, who received a great pass in behind the Central defense from Bruna Kruszewski.

The second and third goals came in the last 15 minutes of the first half, assisted by their playmaker Alexis Vazquez who played her first game since mid-August after being sidelined for over a month with injury. The second goal started with some quick and simple decisions in the midfield that created space for Bruna to launch a shot into the right side of the net. The third goal from the Lakers might be the best of the season yet as it had brought high levels of patience, precision, and quick decision-making to their attacking gameplay. The goal came from several consecutive passes from the midfield into the 18-yard box to find Amy Boyle in space, who hammered the ball into the roof of the net. Iowa Lakes did a steady job retaining the game momentum and maintaining possession control to finish out victorious in the second half.

The Lakers feel good about their current momentum and look forward to their next battle away to Iowa Western on October 2nd.
