A nationally-ranked Iowa Western team defeated Iowa Lakes 4-1 on Saturday. The Lakers struggled to establish any kind of rhythm in the game as Iowa Western capitalized on their opportunities. It wasn't until the last 15 minutes where the Lakers started to find their way with their possession tempo play and unfortunately, time got the best of them. The Lakers goal came with 15 minutes remaining from an excellent pass from Bruna Kruschewski who found the speedy Alexis Vazquez in behind the Western defense for her first of the season. Playoffs will resume for Iowa Lakes in late October, and they are confident of a successful playoff run.
