Lakers Down Southeastern 10-2

The Lakers won 10-2 at Southeastern on Sunday. Starting off exceptionally well, they moved the ball seamlessly from the back line to the front line, creating many chances. An Ana Velasco volley into the top corner gave the game its first goal in the fifth minute. Alicia Cortez scored the second goal with an excellent strike from a challenging angle in the fourteenth minute with an assist by Talia Valenzuela. The ability of Cortez to turn her defender and find the bottom corner of the goal was excellent. A perfectly chipped ball from defender, Paola Then, led to Maria Vilhena's goal in the 24th minute. Southeastern scored a few minutes after the Lakers' goal, but Adriel Schultzen and Alicia Cortez answered again. The half was closed by Maria Vilhena's five. The Lakers conceded a second goal with two minutes left in the half.  An Alicia Cortez second made it 6-2 in the second half after the Lakers came out firing. It was a lopsided game as the Lakers controlled possession and continued to create chances. Vilhena scored the seventh goal in the 58th minute with a pass from Ana Velasco. Maria Vilhena assisted Vasquez's excellent finish in the 66th minute to make it 8-2. Because of her consistent ability to find gaps in between the lines of the Southeastern defense, Vilhena was a challenge to deal with all day. Faith Martin scored the ninth goal with an excellent free kick from 35 yards out. Bailee Miller assisted Vasquez's 10th goal to seal the victory. The Lakers displayed A dominated performance on the day and they are showing signs of making a statement this season.
