It was a 2-1 loss for the Lakers against Iowa Central on Wednesday afternoon. The first Central goal came from a long ball over the top to their star striker, Lauren Chetty, who found the top corner of the net. In the second  Central goal, a penalty was called that was heavily contested by the Laker fans, since the linesman initially called an offside. However, the penalty kick was decided, Iowa Central capitalized on it and led by two goals. The Lakers showed their true colors in the second half as they moved the ball from side to side and created opportunities. The Lakers had the better of the play on goal in the second half as Iowa Central lacked the ability to create many chances or establish any rhythm on the ball. Alicia Cortez found the net 15 yards out after an eight pass combination built from the back line. While it was unfortunate that time ran out, the Lakers hope to get some revenge on October 12th when they visit Iowa Central.
