Lakers Stomp NIACC 9-0

The Iowa Lakes women's team faced off against NIACC on Wednesday in Mason City, riding high on their recent accomplishment of clinching the 16th spot in the NJCAA national rankings. The Lakers were unwavering in their commitment to leave a profound impact right from the very beginning. Maria Vilhena shattered the deadlock with a precision-placed strike into the bottom corner, all credit to the artful pass executed by Faith Martin.

The Lakers continued to shine throughout the day, amassing an impressive total of nine goals, with Maria Vilhena scoring five, Isabella Hernandez and Cameran Renneke each adding two to the count. The Lakers' indomitable defense, complemented by Michelle Granja's unwavering goalkeeping prowess, proved to be an irresistible force. Granja pulled off a stunning save later in the first half, setting the tone for the match and securing her third clean sheet of the season. With this victory, the Lakers' record now stands at 3-1-1, and will travel to Ottumwa on Saturday to face Indian Hills for their next challenge. In the five matches played this year, Maria Vilhena leads the Lakers with seven goals, while Cameran Renneke has notched four goals for the Laker frontline.
