Iowa Lakes Travels to Norfolk, NE

The Iowa Lakes Women's Volleyball Team traveled to Norfolk, NE for the Northeast Community College tournament this weekend where they played Central, Southeast, Lake Region, and Fort Scott.  The first day of the tournament the Lakers opened up against a solid Central squad and played them tight in the first set before losing 25-27 which saw momentum shift to Central for the next two sets where Central came out on top 25-13, 25-15. Southeast was the second opponent of the day and the Lakers came out strong claiming the first set 25-21 before falling in the second set 14-25, the third was a battle with the Lakers coming out on top 26-24 before finishing the match in the fourth 25-21.  The second day of the tournament Iowa Lakes faced off with Lake Region first and won in 4 (21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15) before facing Fort Scott and losing in 4 (10-25, 28-26, 17-25, 19-25).  Three players led the offense for the weekend with RaeAhna Harmon bringing in 54 kills, Julia Beckius with 42 kills, and Kali Mumm with 31 kills.  Jazmin Benally set the pace for the offense with 121 set assists, while Harmon, Beckius, Benally, and Samantha Hyde held down the defense with 187 combined digs.  The team will travel to Creston Iowa this Wednesday to take on Southwestern Community College at 7:00pm for their second conference match.
