Iowa Lakes Community College was recently honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for academic achievements during the 2016-17 college year.
Each year the NJCAA recognizes both teams and individuals for academic success. Four Iowa Lakes teams received honorable mention for earning a team cumulative grade point average above 3.0.

"Very proud of our student athletes and their accomplishments in the classroom. It just shows that our coaches are recruiting the right type of kids who take academics seriously and work hard in the classroom. There is no doubt these individuals will be successful in the future," said Troy Larson, director of athletics.
The NJCAA recognized 27 Iowa Lakes student athletes for their individual academic achievement.
The NJCAA has three award classifications: NJCAA All-Academic First-Team (4.00 GPA), NJCAA All-Academic Second-Team (3.80-3.99 GPA), and NJCAA All-Academic Third-Team (3.60-3.79 GPA).
