Lakers Fall Short In 4 to Iowa Central

The Lakers came out ready to play against Iowa Central Community College but fell short of a win. Coming out strong, the Lakers won the first set 25-23 but faced some hurdles during the second set. The Lakers lost the second set 11-25. After their second set loss the Lakers battled hard in the third set but just couldn't hang on and ended up losing 27-25. During the fourth set, the Lakers played right along with Iowa Central but unfortunately couldn't earn enough points to win the set. The Lakers ended up short and lost the fourth set 21-25.

"We made some untimely mistakes that ended up costing us the match. The girls fought hard as a unit and I am very impressed with my little's, Maggie and Brooke. Those two made saves tonight that they wouldn't have been able to two weeks ago. We just have to keep pushing each and every day but we'll get there!" said Coach Hunter.

After a competitive match against Iowa Central, the Lakers now have an overall record of 1-4 and are 0-1 in the conference. The Lakers are looking to grab some wins this weekend as they travel to Norfolk, Nebraska for the Northeast Community College Tournament. On Friday the 1st, the Lakers look to take on Fort Scott Community College at 1:00p.m. and Lake Region State College at 3:00p.m. After a day of competition, the Lakers will face Colby Community College on Saturday the 2nd at 1:00p.m. and also Southeast Community College at 3:00p.m. The next home match for the Lakers will be held on Tuesday September 5th, starting at 3:00p.m. against Oak Hills Christian College and will compete later again that evening at 7:00p.m. versus Briar Cliff JV.
