Lakers Fight to End Dry Spell

The Iowa Lakes Volleyball team traveled to Mason City, IA on Saturday, October 7th to compete in the NIACC Tournament. The Lakers lost their first match to Marshalltown CC in three sets. After a slow start to the morning, the Lakers came out with fire in their second match against Grand View University JV. 

 

The Lakers' determination pushed them to fight Grand View University JV to a five set match. The Lakers shook off the first set losing 11-25 and came together as a team to rally for a victory with the remaining matches having scores of 25-23, 28-30, 25-20, 15-13 and ulitmately winning against a very compeitive Grand View University JV. The Lakers fought Grand View every step of the way and battled to the win. The Lakers defensive efforts allowed the offense to stay in system, make smart plays, and earn us well fought points. 

 

Coach Hunter Porter said, "It feels great to get back into the grove of things, and start seeing results for how hard the girls are working in the gym. That win was a complete team effort." 

The Lakers have big conference games upcoming in the next few weeks. First up is this Wedesday, October 11th against Southwestern CC. Iowa Lakes volleyball team will being hosting the game and a Pink Out event for Breast Cancer Awareness.
