Lakers struggle to find rhythm against Iowa Central

The Laker volleyball team traveled to Fort Dodge, IA tonight to begin conference play. The Lakers took on the Tritons from Iowa Central Community College. The Tritons led set one from the beginning and did not let up on the Lakers. With some unforced errors by the Lakers, set one ended in favor of the Tritons, 25-12. The momentum continued into the second set for Iowa Central, earning points quickly. The Lakers did not back down but unfortunately struggled to earn enough points to win the second set. The Tritons took the set, 25-16. To begin the third set both teams battled point for point. During the set, Iowa Lakes was up two points on the Tritons but regrettably made more unforced errors causing them to have a seven-point deficit. Iowa Lakes could not gain any ground on the Tritons in the third set, ending in a disappointing 25-15 loss.

"Tonight was very frustrating. It's hard to win matches when you have 60 errors," commented Coach Hunter.

Iowa Lakes travels to Burlington, IA to compete in the Jimmy John's Invite at Southeastern Community College starting on Friday, August 31st at 4:00 p.m. The Lakers competition for the weekend includes: Nassau Community College, Carl Sandburg, Kansas City Kansas Community College and John Wood Community College.
