The third set began in favor of the Blackhawks but the Lakers came back to tie the set-up, 3-3. However, the Lakers could not close the gap, losing 25-14.

The Lakers fought hard throughout the entire match against Northeast. Iowa Lakes fell short in four sets. Coach Hunter had this to say about her team's performance, "Though we didn't come away with the win I was very impressed by some of the improvements we've made and the amount of fight my team showed! We still are making some freshman mistakes in skill and mentality. When our large freshman class finally get their light bulb moment, it will be a pretty exciting season!"
