Lakers Lose Region Volleyball Semi-Final

The Lakers were defeated by the Iowa Central Tritons 0-3 (7-25, 11-25, 16-25) in the Region 11 XI A semi-final match in Fort Dodge. The Tritons looked all the part of a #8 ranked and ICCAC Champion. They dispensed of the Lakers with relative ease. The Triton size proved too much for the Lakers.

First year coach Mike Turnbull had this to say. "I don't want to dwell too much on this one. It is pretty simple, Iowa Central is a very good volleyball team and we are not quite there yet. I would rather this team be remembered as the team that put Iowa Lakes back on the volleyball map. I am happy for all of our kids, but especially for the sophomores they got to end their Laker careers in the play-offs. Considering where we started in mid-August this team came along way. Going forward we shouldn't settle for anything less than post-season appearances. Now returning freshmen have to go to work on continuing to build on any success we had this year and incoming recruits have to be ready to immediately make an impact as we continue the climb up the standings."
