Sophomore Kylah Cortez signs to play on at Bethany College

Iowa Lakes Volleyball Program and Coach Nick Erdman are proud to announce Kylah Cortez's committment to play for the Swedes of Bethany College. Bethany College is an NAIA school, located in Lindsborg, Kansas that competes in the KCAC. Kylah has been working in the Graphics Design program while at Iowa Lakes, and is extremely creative with her work. Kylah has made some massive impact while at Iowa Lakes Community College. She was the only freshman who was consistently in the lineup of a successful Sophomore filled team in 22-23, while also being a Captain. This year Kylah was an extremely calming presence to a young inexperienced team. Cortez, a Sioux City West graduate, has amassed 594 career digs, and 114 career service aces and extremely strong accomplishment in two years.

Coach Erdman had this to say about Kylah, "Kylah has been a blast to coach, she has one of the strongest serves in our conference and you know that she will score with it. She always puts her body on the line and scraps for every ball defensively. Those qualities alone will be extremely missed by our program. The thing that I will miss the most about coaching her is her emotional awareness. She does an outstanding job seperating what is going on with her, and being an elite calming presence for her teammates. Bethany got a really great player and an even better person. She will do big things for them."

The coach of the program her first season, Coach Michael Turnbull had this to add, " It was a pleasure coaching Kylah her freshman year before I retired. Always admired her competitive drive, nose for the ball and infectious smile. Bethany you are getting a good one."
