The Iowa Lakes CC Volleyball team is excited to announce that Lorin Türkdoğan from Bilgi College, and Istanbul, Turkey has signed a Letter of Intent to attend Iowa Lakes CC and play volleyball in the fall of 2024.
Laker Volleyball Coach Nick Erdman, is very encouraged to add Lorin. "Lorin brings an extremely high level of maturity and commitment. She is extremely kind and driven. Lorin brings load of high level club experience in Turkey, she is very quick with great footwork and strong passing. Lorin adds loads of consistency to our serve receive, which we are very excited about."
Lorin has played for Kanarya Club for 1 year, Fenerbahçe College Club for 5 years, and Ateş Club for 5 years. She earned a bronze medal in the Turkish Clubs Beach Volleyball Championship in 2023, was Istanbul League Youth Catergory Champion in 2023 and an honor certificate winner from 2020-2023. Outside of volleyball she has receive awards in entrepreneurship competitions for 2 projects, she is a participant in Erasmus, has a radio podcast and volunteer's for the child's human rights project.
Ateş Onur Yiğit President of the club said "For five years, I've closely worked with Lorin, a disciplined individual dedicated to training. She never misses a chance for improvement, making them invaluable to any team. As Lorin begins at Iowa Lakes, I'm confident they'll thrive. Playing in Iowa Lakes will be a great opportunity. Lorin, who intends to earn an Associates in Arts at Iowa Lakes said, "I chose to attend Iowa Lakes and play volleyball because being an international student, having a safe and welcoming environment is important and I believe I have found that at Iowa Lakes Community College. I am confident that it will be a significant transition for me both academically and athletically"
