Creston, IA - Southwestern Community College is proud to announce that Brysen Vernon, sophomore first baseman for the Spartans, has been named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week.

Vernon showcased remarkable skill at the plate, contributing significantly to the Spartans' recent successes. Throughout the week, he demonstrated outstanding performance, tallying an impressive 11-23 record with a notable .478 batting average. His contributions extended beyond hits, with five powerful home runs, three doubles, and nine RBIs, further solidifying his pivotal role within the team's offense. Additionally, Vernon showcased patience and discipline, drawing four walks and crossing the plate seven times himself.

On the season, Brysen Vernon maintains a commendable .360 batting average and has already accumulated an impressive 11 home runs. His exceptional performance is reflected in his remarkable .699 slugging percentage and .454 on-base percentage, highlighting his importance to the Spartans' lineup.

Looking ahead, Vernon and the Spartans are poised for upcoming challenges, starting with a home game against Kirkwood before hitting the road to face tough opponents in Iowa Western and Northeast. With Vernon's consistency and determination, the Spartans aim to continue their competitive edge as they progress through the season.
