RedTail Softball Splits with Lakers

The RedTails traveled to Estherville, Iowa to face Iowa Lakes Community College in a doubleheader conference match up. The RedTails lost game one 18-4 in five innings and won game two 6-2.
Game One: 18 (ILCC), 4 (HCC)
An explosive first inning for Iowa Lakes started them ahead 11-0.
They added four more runs to their score in the bottom of the second.
The RedTails put some runs up on the board in the top of the third. Emilee Bergmann singled and advanced to second on a Lucy Lebo single. Mya Chamberlin then hit a single to score Bergmann. Adelyn Sienknecht hit a sacrifice fly to score Lebo, making the score 15-2.
The Lakers added three more runs in the third inning.
Down to the last inning, Hawkeye added two more runs. Lebo hit her second single of the day. Sienknecht was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Courtney Hemsley hit a grounder to advance the runners, and Hailey Harbour put the pressure on the Lakers to force an error, allowing two runs to cross home plate. Unfortunately, the threat was ended and the game was completed with an 18-4 score.
Lebo led the way at the plate going 2-3 with one run scored. On the mound, Jordan Eads threw one inning, giving up eight hits, 11 runs, just three earned, and two walks. Sienknecht threw three innings, giving up nine hits, seven runs, seven earned, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Game Two: 6 (HCC), 2 (ILCC)
The RedTails came out on top early in game one. In the first inning, Chamberlin singled and advanced to third when Eads singled. Hemsley then hit a single to score Chamberlin. Lizzy Hamand then hit a single herself to score Eads.
A quick three up three down inning for the RedTails put them back at the plate. Dharma Woodruff started the inning with a hit and scored on a Bergmann double. Lebo then doubled herself to score Bergmann, giving the RedTails a 4-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Woodruff hit a solo shot to go up 5-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, Hawkeye added their final run to their score. Hamand doubled and moved to third on a Ceyaira Barron single. Woodruff then forced a Laker error to score Hamand.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Lakers crossed one run to make the score 6-1 in favor of the RedTails. They added one more run in the sixth inning.
Chamberlin and the defense shut down the Lakers in the seventh inning to give them the 6-2 win.
At the plate, Woodruff led the way going 2-3 with two runs scored and one run batted in. Chamberlin and Hamand each had two hits. On the mound, Chamberlin went the distance, throwing all seven innings, giving up six hits, two runs, one earned, one walk, and eleven strikeouts.
The RedTails are back in action on Wednesday, April 9th at Iowa Central Community College. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
